Diversity and inclusion have always been core to CXPA. These commitments have taken prominence this past year as CXPA members have asked that we take greater action. We are proud, as Diversity Advancement Committee Chair, CXPA Chair, and CEO, to share what is being done to demonstrate a culture of inclusivity and belonging, where everyone is welcomed; diverse perspectives and approaches are embraced; and we advocate for customer experiences that improve people’s lives.
During the past year, the Board has revised CXPA’s leadership structure and practices to increase opportunities for underrepresented groups to be heard and serve in leadership. CXPA Networks, including the Boston, Atlanta, UK Midlands, Twin Cities, and Melbourne Networks, have hosted diversity initiatives. Two working committees have formed to ensure that CXPA is welcoming to all and taking proactive steps to advance diversity. LinkedIn Live programs have focused on empathy, International Women’s Day, and Emerging Leaders. Member profiles and blog posts have highlighted professionals from diverse backgrounds and addressed ways to redress inequities. Collaborations have extended the CXPA community in Asia and Latin America, and Recognized Training Providers are providing CX training and CCXP preparation in several languages.
While we are proud of what has been accomplished, there is still much work to be done. The horrific killing of Asian individuals in Atlanta was yet another reminder of the discrimination suffered by too many for so many years. The late Robert F. Kennedy once said, “Every time we turn our heads the other way when we see the law flouted, when we tolerate what we know to be wrong, when we close our eye and ears to the corrupt because we are too busy or too frightened, when we fail to speak up and speak out, we strike a blow against freedom and decency and justice.”
We invite you to join us in the next diversity and inclusion steps:
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and thank you for your continued support to help us learn and advance together.
