Islamic New Year also known as Arabic New Year or Hijri New Year begins on the first day of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar. The day is celebrated quietly by attending various religious activities, spiritual singing and religious meetings and is considered a time for Muslims to reflect on the passing of time and their own mortality.
