Experience Jar

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had time last week to reflect on this past year – your peaks, your valleys, your key learnings, & your best surprises.
 
In our house on New Year’s Day, we like to go through our green jar – which holds all the mementos from our family adventures in the past year. The jar is a hodge podge of tangible memories from our experiences:
🎫 Ticket stubs
🗺 Maps
📿 Lanyards
🖐 Wristbands
📰 Programs
🎭 Playbills
 
We dump the jar out on a big blanket & each person picks their five favorite things we did together. Everyone takes turns talking about what they picked, funny things that happened, & what they liked best about that adventure.
 
You know what isn’t in the jar – commodities, goods, or services. Only EXPERIENCES! (Joe Pine & the Experience Economy)
 
What a great lesson for all of us who are experience advocates – the work we do creates a connection between people, encounters that matter, & ones that leave amazing memories. Take this first week of the new year to reconnect with your CX vision & ensure your annual roadmap can deliver on those promises.
