Description:
There is increasing evidence to show that an engaged workforce may be the key to better customer experience. Customer experience professionals understand that career development is key to increasing employee engagement. But despite the growing body of research, most companies are failing at this challenge.
The San Francisco CXPA is excited to tackle this topic head on by bringing Ian Swinson back by popular demand to share his unique approach to career management. This one hour workshop is based on Ian’s experience gleaned from years of management at a variety of company sizes and industries, and it will introduce attendees to the core concepts behind applying design thinking to planning your career.
This workshop will cover several concepts including:
- A career planning workbook
- A career and coaching framework for assessing individuals and teams
- Techniques for assessing both an employee’s skill set, morale, and aspirations
Managers will leave the workshop with a formal structural understanding of the various dimensions (and sub-dimensions) that constitute a career in UX/CX and how to apply this structure to their workplace. The primary goal is to facilitate conversations between managers and employees and empower the latter.
Individual contributors will leave the workshop with the same formal understanding of the dimensions related to their careers but with a focus on helping them both plan their careers and initiate effective conversations with their managers.
Logistical notes: We encourage attendees to arrive at 5:00 pm to catch up with fellow CX practitioners and make new connections. The workshop will begin promptly at 5:30 pm and is expected to run about 1-1:15 hours. It is activity based, so please bring writing materials and be prepared to collaborate with your neighbors!
Also, please bring a photo ID and come ready to sign an NDA upon arrival at the event.
