This national holiday is dedicated to showing Pakistan's support and unity for the people of India-administered Kashmir, and supporting the Kashmiris' right to self-determination. Kashmir, whose population is three-quarters Muslim and one-quarter Hindu, became a disputed territory in 1947 and is now administered by three countries: India, Pakistan, and the People's Republic of China.
