This holiday celebrates the first Christian church in the Republic of Georgia, the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, literally "the Living Pillar Cathedral." A Georgian Orthodox cathedral located in Mtskheta, the church was originally built in the fourth century and was rebuilt in the eleventh century. Christians believe that Christ's mantle is buried in the church.
