Volunteer Highlight: Toronto Network Volunteers plan the Most Attended Networking Event Ever!

I have a really cool job with the CXPA. Working directly with the volunteers who participate in the local networking program means I’m the first person on-staff to hear their excitement after a networking event they executed was successful. It’s an understatement to say their energy and passion for creating memorable experiences is infectious.

I’d like to highlight the excellent work our volunteers are doing for the CXPA by speaking with Stephan Sigaud, the current Lead of the Toronto Network. Stephan leads an engaged team of volunteers who secure innovative content that drives registration numbers through the roof! Last September, the Toronto Network hosted the most attended CXPA networking event in history with 104 recorded attendees. I held a quick Q&A with Stephan to learn the secrets behind their success:

How do you and your team get the word out about upcoming CXPA Toronto Network events?

Historically we’ve relied on CXPA staff’s excellent support with everything related to event communications and managed invitations and reminders that way. We’ve just switched to EventBrite (with CXPA guidance) and have had success using the toll in a more autonomous way. In addition to these “official” communications we’ve all (the 7 members of our CXPA Toronto board) actively leveraged our social media and personal networks.

Your most attended event was in September of 2018 that included a workshop by Bruce Temkin (“Humanizing Customer Experience: Putting People First) and a presentation by Marilyn Barefoot (“Collaborate for CX Success.”). What do you attribute to the success of having over 100 attendees for this event?

The success of last September's event can be attributed to a combination of factors:

#1 and probably most important, the excellent reputation of the speakers
#2, the active promotion of the event
#3, the momentum from previous events

What do you believe has been the biggest benefit to your local community by planning periodic networking opportunities for local CX professionals?

Based on the feedback we’ve been gathering (via VOC software, go figure!), attendees appreciate:

#1, the knowledge sharing
#2, the ability to network with peers
#3, the informal yet professional setting

Stephan and the rest of the Toronto team are shining examples of CXPA volunteers that go above and beyond to make the association stronger. We are grateful for their hard work and are excited to see their hard work paying off!
