The Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities suffered more acts of senseless violence in January, particularly in the Asian and Black communities. News of these incidents has left the CXPA outraged and disappointed. On January 7, 2023, in Memphis, TN, Mr. Tyre Nichols, was brutally beaten by police officers. On January 21, 2023, a gunman opened fire inside the Star Dance Studio, a Chinese-owned ballroom dance studio in Los Angeles. And on January 23, 2023, in Half Moon Bay, CA, a lone gunman went on a shooting spree, that left seven dead and one injured. It is reported the victims are a mix of adults of Asian and Hispanic heritage.

The CXPA Diversity Advancement Committee, the CXPA Board of Directors, CXPA Members, and the CXPA Staff remain committed to ongoing education around diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, belonging, and racial justice (DEIABJ) for all CX professionals. We pledge to continue our work until everyone feels safe and valued in a world where all are treated equitably.

Acts of violence in our communities can take a toll on one’s mental health. We are committed to supporting our members who are experiencing that pain and want to share resources to find assistance and to educate.
